Hospital, critical access hospital revised requirements on patient rights, complaint resolution, medical waste disposal

Effective July 1, 2024, The Joint Commission approved revisions to several requirements for critical access hospitals and hospitals related to patient rights and complaint resolution. In addition, an Environment of Care standard has been revised to clarify that hospitals and CAHs need to account for the disposal of regulated medical waste in their procedures.
