Effective Jan. 1, 2024: Revisions to Medication Compounding requirements for hospitals, CAHs
The Joint Commission has revised requirements related to medication compounding for Joint Commission-accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals, starting Jan. 1, 2024.
The requirements — scored at Medication Management (MM) Standard MM.05.01.07 and National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) Standard NPSG.03.04.01, Element of Performance (EP) 3 — were revised to better align with national standards of practice while continuing to align with regulation and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance.
